At the Front of Plant site, construction work progresses at the Surge and Flow Splitter (SFS) shaft. SVCW’s contractor partner, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), continues with construction to complete the upper sections of the second pass walls. SPJV is preparing to set forms and place concrete beam pockets that will support the SFS shaft cover sections. The beam pockets are vertical openings in a column where an intersecting beam is framed. Additional architectural work in the shaft includes applying coating to the exposed surface of the second pass concrete walls and fill areas.
At the Receiving Lift Station (RLS), installation of the manifold piping and main RLS pumps is ongoing. With the installation of the pumps and sole plates complete, the crew continues to make connections to suction and discharge piping, as well as installing supplemental equipment, such as drain pipes and pressure indicators. This month, electrical work is set to get completed at the RLS, with SPJV currently performing final installation of conduits for light fixtures and other instrumentation. Concurrently SPJV continues to pull and test various control, signal, and communication wires throughout the Headworks facility, which will be followed by testing of the electrical equipment to ensure that quality, safety and operational standards have been achieved.
