Construction work advances on the Belmont Gravity Pipeline (BGP) along Shoreway Road in Belmont and San Carlos. SVCW’s contractor partner, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), and SPJV’s subcontractor Power Engineering Construction (PEC), are set to complete Phase 4 of the construction work. Vadnais Trenchless completed microtunneling from Jacking Shaft 4 (JS-4) to Receiving Shaft 3 (RS-3) last month, and is preparing to backfill and restore the site at JS-4.. This month, PEC has mobilized to JS-3 and set up their equipment for microtunneling from JS-3 to RS-2, which is anticipated to continue throughout the month. Throughout all of the microtunneling operations, SPJV and PEC continue to ensure consistent coordination with the SVCW public outreach team and neighboring businesses, to limit impacts due to traffic modifications and construction noise.
At the Redwood City Pump Station (RCPS), SPJV continues with structural and electrical work at the pump station wet well and screening structure. Construction of the second lift walls for the wet wells on the east side is now complete, and SPJV has completed concrete for the screening building deck, which cured for 5 days. Miscellaneous electrical work includes installation of overhead conduits and wires inside the electrical building.
Structural and electrical work progresses at the Menlo Park Pump Station (MPPS). Following the installation of suction and discharge piping for each pump at the B-side wet well, SPJV has completed hydrotesting of all pumps and piping. Current work includes installation of conduits, modifying VFDs along with connecting the motors. SPJV has nearly finalized functional testing of the B-side systems after which a 30-day acceptance test of the installed equipment will follow.
