Construction work progresses at the Surge and Flow Splitter (SFS) shaft at the Front of Plant (FoP) site. SVCW’s contractor partner, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), is set to complete construction of the SFS shaft roof with the setting of the precast roof panels. This month, SPJV is installing air relief valves on the shaft deck, which are intended to protect the shaft roof by ensuring air in the SFS shaft above the water surface is automatically released in the event of abrupt changes in water surface elevation. Additional work at the shaft includes installation of conduits and instrumentation on the deck, and coating application on the shaft walls.
At the Receiving Lift Station (RLS), installation of drain pipes, flanges and other equipment to support each of the six RLS pumps is complete. With the mechanical and electrical work inside the shaft drawing to a close, SPJV is also set to complete construction of the roof with the installation of stairs, access hatches and doors. As the Front of Plant approaches final stages of construction, SVCW has begun high level coordination efforts with the contractors and the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team to plan for safe and timely systemwide testing and startup.
