Construction work approaches completion on the Receiving Lift Station (RLS) at the Front of Plant (FoP) site. SVCW’s contractor partner, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), has completed installation of supplemental process equipment, such as sump pumps and valves inside the RLS shaft. This month, SPJV is completing installation of stairs on the shaft exterior along with miscellaneous architectural improvements. With the Front of Plant construction near complete , SPJV has begun preparations for paving and restoration at the site, which will take place over the next few months. Throughout all construction operations, the contractor continues to maintain a high level of coordination with SVCW’s Operations & Maintenance (O&M) team to ensure the highest levels of safety and quality of work.
Concurrently, efforts towards a safe and timely startup of the Front of Plant facilities continue to progress. A 21-day functional test at the new Headworks facility as well as the SFS and RLS shafts is ongoing, and is set to be completed later this month. These functional tests are performed ahead of facility start up to ensure that individual pieces of equipment as well as complete systems are working as expected prior to full start up. SVCW and SPJV successfully organized training sessions with various equipment vendors to ensure SVCW O&M staff receive comprehensive operational training on critical equipment prior to full startup. Completion of the vendor training this month marks a major milestone in the startup and commissioning phase of the Program.
