SVCW’s Design Builder, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), and SPJV’s subcontractor Power Engineering Construction (PEC), approach completion of the Belmont Gravity Pipeline (BGP) project. Demolition of the decommissioned Belmont Pump Station (BPS) and piping inside the San Carlos Pump Station (SCPS) has been completed. A 30-day acceptance test of the new piping at the SCPS and the BGP began last month, which will last through the end of this month. With the completion of the acceptance testing, the BGP project will achieve substantial completion, marking a significant milestone for the project.
At the Redwood City Pump Station (RCPS) wet well and screening building, SPJV makes headway with electrical and structural improvements. SPJV installed a high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe between the new junction box and the existing mag meter vault for use during wet weather flow pumping, with the final connection to the existing force main pending. Discharge piping for the new pumps was installed from the RCPS structure to the future tie-in point just north of the existing mag meter vault. Both pipe excavations have been backfilled. Additional work at the pump station includes installation of conduits, wires and control panels inside the electrical building.
