Front of Plant May 2023

Construction work approaches completion at the Front of Plant (FoP) site. This month, SVCW’s contractor partner, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV) is wrapping up installation of stairs on the Receiving Lift Station (RLS) shaft, along with architectural improvements at the new Headworks facility. At the Surge and Flow Splitter (SFS) shaft, pickling and passivation of the air relief vacuum valves was completed, which are chemical processes utilized to protect metals from corrosion. SPJV has also begun paving and restoration work at the FoP site and completed installation of curb and gutter in the yard area.

Efforts towards a safe and timely startup of the Front of Plant facilities continue to make progress. Functional testing of the Headworks, RLS, and SFS are ongoing and are set to conclude this month. These functional tests will ensure that all systems are working as expected prior to full startup of the system. SPJV conducted automatic system training for SVCW’s Operations and Maintenance (O&M) supervisors, which will be followed by conducting the training for the rest of the Operations and Maintenance group. The automatic system training integrates various control strategies with field training to familiarize the O&M staff with operating and controlling the system as a whole.
