SVCW’s contractor partner, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), and SPJV’s subcontractor Power Engineering Construction (PEC), are nearing the conclusion of the Belmont Gravity Pipeline (BGP) project along Shoreway Road. Restoration of receiving shaft 3 (RS-3) was completed this month, with striping at Shoreway Road as the final finishing step towards restoring the road to pre-construction conditions. SPJV and PEC continue to maintain a high level of coordination with the SVCW public outreach team and neighboring businesses, to limit construction impacts due to traffic modifications.
Structural and electrical work advances at the Redwood City Pump Station (RCPS) wet well and screening building. SPJV completed hydro blasting at the wet well and will be performing lining and coating application inside the wet well this month. At the electrical building, SPJV is installing overhead conduits, motor control centers (MCCs), and other miscellaneous equipment. SPJV also received the new backup generator last month. Additional work at the pump station includes preparations for construction of the retaining wall for the wet well structure.
SPJV proceeds with structural and electrical improvements at the Menlo Park Pump Station (MPPS). SPJV continues installing actuators for the new pumps at the A-side and B-side wet wells this month. With the installation of the new variable frequency drives (VFDs) complete, SPJV is now in the process of disconnecting and removing existing VFDs, and completing the cut-over to connect the new pumps to the newly installed VFDs. Simultaneously, efforts towards startup and commissioning of the A-side pumps commenced last month and have been progressing smoothly. SPJV completed functional testing of pumps 1 and 2 in coordination with SVCW’s O&M personnel, and is set to perform testing on pump 5 later this month.
