Pump Stations Improvements May 2024

SVCW’s Design Builder, Shea Parsons Joint Venture (SPJV), and SPJV’s subcontractor Power Engineering Construction (PEC), approach completion of the Belmont Gravity Pipeline (BGP) project. Wastewater from the Belmont and San Carlos collection systems is now being conveyed to the San Carlos Drop Structure, from where it is transported via the new gravity tunnel to the new SVCW Headworks for treatment. At the San Carlos Pump Station (SCPS) electrical room, installation of the new motor control center (MCC) is complete, and installation of supplemental equipment continues.

PEC has concluded road restoration activities at the Bair Island and San Carlos Pump Station sites and brought the areas back to pre-construction conditions. Demolition of the existing, now decommissioned, Belmont Pump Station (BPS) is underway. Concurrently, a 30-day acceptance test of the new piping at the SCPS and the BGP takes place between mid-May and mid-June.

At the Redwood City Pump Station (RCPS) wet well and screening building, SPJV proceeds with electrical and structural improvements. At the wet well structure, SPJV completed installing discharge piping on the south side and began forming concrete for construction of the sanitary sewer force main (SSFM) supports. Cutover to the new PG&E service has been completed. Additional work at the pump station includes installation of trench drain, miscellaneous piping and appurtenances in the electrical building and site finishes.
